The Pan Am Games are the most important regional sports competition in the Americas. This year the competitions are in Santiago de Chile from Friday, 20 October to Sunday, 5 November 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Marileidy Paulino is the highest-ranked single Dominican athlete. She is the athlete to beat in the 400 m run. The Dominican women\u2019s volleyball team, the Reinas del Caribe are also going for gold. The Dominican men\u2019s basketball team seeks a medal, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Diario Libre reports on other Dominican athletes who could medal. These are: Beatriz Piron and Dahiana Ortiz in weightlifting, Bernardo Pie and Cristofer Reyes in taekwondo, Audrys Nin and Leandro Pe\u00f1a in gymnastics, Victoria Garza, Frandiel Gomez and Jonathan Ruvalcaba en diving, Andres Martijena and Josue Dominguez in swimming.
