President Luis Abinader was in Samana on Friday, 17 November 2023 to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremonies at Pi\u00f1ero Group\u2019s Cayo Levantado islet property in Samana Bay. The Spanish hotel chain renovated the luxury resort\u2019s 218-room hotel at Cayo Levantado in Samana Bay and reopened to customers this summer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the event, President Abinader noted that the EUR$50 million investment carried out by the Spanish hotel group in the renovation is part of US$4.1 billion in Foreign Direct Investment foreign companies have injected into projects in the Dominican Republic so far this year. President Abinader said the forecast is for FDI to reach US$4.4 billion in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abinader also mentioned that his administration is investing RD$1.7 billion in the Samana Bay region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the visit of President Abinader to Samana, he was accompanied by Tourism Minister David Collado. Collado announced the government is investing RD$1.74 billion in 22 projects in the northeastern Samana province. Of these, 15 are in the municipality of Samana city, including improvements to the Atlantic Ocean-fronting boulevard facing Samana Bay. Another seven projects are underway in the municipality of Las Terrenas on the peninsula’s north side. Road projects for RD$48 million in Las Terrenas were mentioned there. The works in Samana are expected to be concluded by December 2023 and February 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
