The National Association of Auto Part Importers (Anamara) warned last week that Chinese special interests in the country represent \u201cimportant\u201d threats to Dominican-owned businesses. The association called for vigilance from Customs Agency authorities to ensure fairness in the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The auto part importers (Asociaci\u00f3n Nacional de Importadores y Distribuidores de Repuestos Automotrices, Accesorios y de Movilidad) are another of a long list of business representatives who have complained about the unfair business practices used by the Chinese to find loopholes in the system and bend local authorities in their favor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Juan Manuel Nu\u00f1ez, president of Anamara, called the Chinese importer sector unruly and highly informal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Diario Libre has regularly denounced the government is being lenient in authorizing unfair labor and tax practices by Chinese businesses in the country — including an attempt to illegally install a motel where it is banned, the hardware sector, the restaurant business, and imports in general. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The auto parts importers now join voices with other sectors that call for an even playing field for all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The auto parts sector contributes over RD$10 billion to the economy each year, says Anamara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
