The Ministry of Tourism has high hopes it will break the 10 million mark of visitors this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tourism Minister David Collado is optimistic the country will reach the new record. So far, 7,191,052 visitors have come by air and another 1,913,991 by sea. This is a new record for November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fueling the growth is the popularity of the Dominican Republic as a cruise destination. As of November 2023, the 1,913,991 visitors had arrived to Dominican ports this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In November, 233,393 people visited the country by sea. The cruise ship ports of Amber Cove and Taino Bay in Puerto Plata were the most visited, receiving 101,013 and 64,184 foreigners, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This adds numbers to the boom in airline service to the island that has made the Dominican Republic the leading Caribbean island destination. In November, 636,460 arrived in the country by air alone, of which 542,229 were foreigners and 94,231 Dominicans who live outside the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the November tourism statistics presentation, the Ministry of Tourism announced that 859,853 visitors had come in November 2023, bringing the year’s total to 9,105,043. December stats need to be 894,958, for the country to break the 10 million mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, estimates that the year will close with around 8 million air arrivals, 12% more than in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Punta Cana continues to be the entry airport for arrivals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
