Several sectors had said the bill would cause adverse effects to local producers that have higher costs than the imported goods. Imported sugar had been exempted from the bill. The bill authorized the Ministry of Agriculture to decide who could import.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The president of the Dominican Association of Milk Producers (Aproleche), Eric Rivero said the President\u2019s decision came after producers met with him at the Presidential Palace.
