Held every year in Berlin, Germany, the Berlinale Film Festival brings the big stars of international cinema to Berlin and discovers new talents. It accompanies filmmakers of all disciplines on their paths into the spotlight and supports careers, projects, dreams and visions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For its 74th edition, Dominican film director Nelson Carlos De Los Santos Arias won for Silver Bear award for the Best Director for his film “Pepe.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPepe\u201d is innovative in its use of immersive sound. The movie was filmed in five countries with the last shot in November 2022 in the Dominican Republic. Most of the actors are not professionals. The people in the film speak several languages \u2014 Spanish, English, German, Afrikaan and Mbukushu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The plot as on IMDB: \u201cA voice that claims to be from a hippopotamus. A voice that doesn\u2019t understand the perception of time. Pepe, the first and last hippo killed in the Americas, tells his story with the overwhelming orality of these towns.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
