President William Ruto received the red carpet treatment in Washington, D. C. during his visit with US President Joe Biden. But it looks like the US is so far only making available US$60 million for the multi-nation effort to back the National Police in Haiti in its war against the gangs that are in control. The US Congress is divided over providing more funding. Right now it seems the gangs may be the leading employer in Haiti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, in Haiti, the gangs recently made it clear they are in charge. With days for the announced entry of the UN mission troops, the gangs murdered the daughter and son-in-law of a US congressman, Missouri representative Ben Baker. Baker announced on Facebook: “Most of you know my daughter and son-in-law Davy and Natalie Lloyd were full-time missionaries in Haiti. They were attacked by gangs this evening and were both killed.\u201d Natalie and Davy Lloyd were part of the nonprofit Missions in Haiti Inc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The US Southern Command has been assisting with the opening of the Port-au-Prince International Airport for the arrival of equipment for the new stabilization mission that would be led by troops from Kenya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Diario Libre reports that as the crisis continues in Haiti, thousands of Haitians cross the border to shop for essentials in the Dajabon binational market in the Dominican Republic on the north side of the border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a new story, Diario Libre reports that Haitian gangs are moving to control the Lago Azuei that is the natural border with Jiman\u00ed, on the south side of the border. Jiman\u00ed hosts weekly binational markets and is the closest Dominican city to the Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince. Port-au-Prince is under seige of the gangs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Dominican Minister of Public Health Victor Atallah released statistics that reveal the Dominican Republic spends 17% of its public health budget to service nationals from Haiti, as reported in Hoy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
