In a joint operation coordinated by the Public Ministry of the Attorney General Office, agents of the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD), backed by the military security of the Caucedo Multimodal Port and state intelligence agencies, seized a shipment of 1,061 packages of marijuana during an inspection operation carried out at the country\u2019s main port located in Boca Chica, Santo Domingo province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The DNCD reported that anti-narcotics officers, military personnel, and canine units, upon receiving intelligence reports, set up a verification operation for dozens of containers that were in transit through the country, after detecting inconsistencies inside one of the freight containers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the presence of a prosecutor, the freight container was opened, revealing a cargo of canned goods and condiments that had arrived at the terminal from Kingston, Jamaica. Inside, 49 cardboard boxes were found, containing a total of 1,061 packages of marijuana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“According to the cargo manifest, the transit container through the country, containing canned goods and condiments, would have been shipped from the port of Caucedo to London, England,” the DNCD press release said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
