Jarabacoa Flower Festival \/ Presidency<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

President Luis Abinader was in Jarabacoa, a mountain town in central La Vega province to inaugurate several public works and share his vision on how the mountain town has become a major vacation destination over the years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the President\u2019s visit to Jarabacoa on Thursday, 11 July 2024, he attended the inauguration of the modernization program of the EdeNorte electricity power distributor, the remodeling of the local municipal hospital, and the opening ceremonies of the Flower Festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

RD$150 million was invested in the EdeNorte project that improved the Jarabacoa sub-station, adding 20 megawatts, as well as repowering the smaller substation of Paso Bajito. The project also included the installation of hundreds of lights along 11 kilometers of roads in the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abinader noted that Jarabacoa is increasingly becoming a very popular tourist area, catering to domestic travelers and foreign travelers, short and long-term rentals and major real estate development for vacation homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To support the growth of tourism, the Abinader administration is investing a lot of money in the area, with the widening of the highway leading to the town, the remodeling of the hospital and the courthouse, as well as the construction of a new water supply system for the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later in the day, the President attended the ribbon-cutting ceremonies at the Plaza del Caf\u00e9, where locals and tourists alike can enjoy another mainstay of the area: the production of quality coffee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another of the highlights of the presidential visit was the opening of the XIII Flower Festival which was held over the weekend. This year\u2019s festival opened under the theme of \u201cSpringtime is contagious\u201d a reference to Jarabacoa\u2019s nickname as the City of the Springtime due to its mild year-round climate. Plants of every size and shape were available for sale, as well as regional artisan products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
