A stable weather pattern will prevail during the morning hours due to an air mass with low humidity, a sky with scattered clouds, many hours of sunshine, and hot temperatures caused by some particles of Saharan dust, the Weather Institute (Indomet, formerly Onamet) reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The forecast is for some showers in the afternoon given that a passing trough in the upper levels and local effects (diurnal heating and orographic) are slightly increasing cloudiness, especially towards the Caribbean coastline, the northeast and the Central Mountain Range, and provinces of Monte Plata, S\u00e1nchez Ram\u00edrez, Monse\u00f1or Nouel, San Jos\u00e9 de Ocoa, Barahona, Pedernales, La Vega, San Juan de la Maguana and El\u00edas Pi\u00f1a.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Wednesday, from early hours, a tropical wave is approaching and it will interact with the passing trough at different levels, favoring the increase in clouds that will generate moderate to strong showers, some thunderstorms and isolated gusts of wind over several municipalities in the provinces of La Altagracia, La Romana, San Pedro de Macor\u00eds, National District, San Crist\u00f3bal, Santiago Rodr\u00edguez, Monte Cristi, Dajab\u00f3n and San Juan de la Maguana among other nearby localities. These rains will gradually decrease during the early hours of the night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Greater Santo Domingo there will be scattered clouds to partly cloudy with isolated showers and possible thunderstorms in the afternoon. The minimum temperature will be between 24\u00b0C and 26\u00b0C and the maximum between 31\u00b0C and 33\u00b0C in the capital city area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Weather Institute says the hot summer temperatures will continue and urges people to stay hydrated, wear light clothes and avoid direct exposure to sunlight without proper sun protection from 11am to 4pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Tuesday, 16 July 2024, Gloria Ceballos announced that the Presidency had enacted Law 19-24 that officially creates the Dominican Weather Institute (Indomet) to replace the Weather Office (Onamet).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
