The small town of San Jose de las Matas, popularly called \u201cSajoma,\u201d celebrates its first Multi-sector Fair this next weekend \u2013 Thursday, 25 July to Sunday, 28 July 2024. Sajoma is located south of Santiago de los Caballeros with a very good highway leading up into the mountains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Expo is organized by the Farm Coop of San Jose de las Matas, to showcase the varied farm production of the area and promote domestic tourism. The theme is: Commerce, Farms, and Fun. There will be exhibitions and sales of farm equipment, animals raised in the area, fresh produce and foods prepared by local chefs, a true gastronomical wonder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The intention is to bring farmers and livestock breeders together for a celebration of the agriculture accomplishments and discuss the advancement of farmers \u2013 much like a 4H Country Fair in the US or Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There will also be livestock auctions. Finally, the \u201cfun\u201d aspect of the Expo Sajoma, includes lots of things for children to enjoy, and nightly presentations for the whole family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For energetic folks, the organizers have set up mountain bike routes in the area. There were also be talks on the different aspects of the environment in the mountains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remember that the very well-known agency, Plan Sierra, is headquartered in San Jose de las Matas, and plays a major role in the reforestation of the entire Central Mountain Range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In these summer months, it is a pleasure to visit this area that has a good amount of rental properties and small hotels available. Enjoy spring-like weather all year round. There are several good restaurants in this land also famous for its cassava bread.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
