The bill defines the Ministry of Defense&#8217;s role as supporting national authorities nationwide during natural disasters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new entity is intended to enhance the state&#8217;s response capabilities to emergencies and disasters through non-combat military operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The CEMED draft was proposed by the Executive Branch. The bill had already been approved in the Senate and now returns to the Presidency for enactment or revision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CEMED will undertake 11 new functions and include members from the Dominican Army, Navy, and Air Force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The law comprises 15 articles.
