These advancements, driven by technological upgrades, are set to position logistics as a key economic sector for the nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The development of the logistics sector in the Dominican Republic has a direct impact on the quality of life for our citizens,&#8221; Abinader stated during the event &#8220;Hub RD: The Great Opportunity of a Transforming Country,&#8221; that was held last week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>President Abinader emphasized the rise in cargo and transportation flows, including maritime, air, and cross-border traffic. These improvements, coupled with strengthened logistics and manufacturing activities, contributed to a growth in the country&#8217;s trade volume from US$30.7 billion in 2019 to US$41 billion by the end of 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eduardo Sanz Lovat\u00f3n, director general of the Customs Agency, and his team, highlighted the positive effects of recent initiatives on the national logistics sector. Sanz Lovat\u00f3n detailed how the growth in logistics is creating more opportunities, jobs and attracting investments. \u201cOur vision has been to establish the Dominican Republic as the leading logistics hub in the region,\u201d he said, referring to the innovations introduced during his four-year tenure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Daniel Pe\u00f1a, deputy director of the DGA, presented the findings of the &#8220;Hub Segment Study,&#8221; conducted in collaboration with the American Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic. The study showed that connecting with Europe presents a significant opportunity to compete as a cross-docking or multimodal center.
