Diario Libre is asking about the secrecy people in different government departments have regarding shipyard operations in the country. Somebody is doing business, but the Port Authority (Apordom), Ministry of Defense and Armada (Navy) authorities aren\u2019t telling the press.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Diario Libre\u2019s Tania Molina reports the National Council of Export Free Zones (CNZFE) reveals that four companies operate under this tax-free regime:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aventura Boats that builds new boats and operates in the Zona Industrial de Luper\u00f3n Verde in Puerto Plata. The Cnzfe says the company built 13 catamarans in 2023 with a market worth of US$2.1 million. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The other three companies are listed for vessel repair operations: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ciramar Internacional Trading is located at the government-owned Astilleros Navales in Caldera Bay in southcentral Peravia province. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Industrias Navales Dominicana (Inadon) operates in the Zona Franca Industrial of Andr\u00e9s, Boca Chica but is listed as offering mobile services at demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

M & D Marine Repairs S.A. operates in Los Mina, Santo Domingo East.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Diario Libre also contacted Astilleros Ben\u00edtez, but its executives, as in the cases of the companies listed above, would not make time to receive the reporter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Diario Libre has been complaining about the reticence of several government entities to comply with the Law of Free Access to Information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
