The top division features eight teams this year, and expansion is in place for 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Dominican Republic is hosting the 2024 U-17 Women\u2019s World Cup this fall (for female players under the age of 17 years), and the International Football Federation (FIFA) is spending millions of dollars to help the country prepare for the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Feliz Sanchez Olympic Stadium in Santo Domingo is currently undergoing a massive remodeling to accommodate the event. In Santiago de los Caballeros, the Cibao F.C. Stadium, located on the campus of the Pontificia Catholic University Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) has been expanded and remodeled with new lights, a huge info screen, and new turf to replace the former artificial surface. Also in Santiago, PUCMM\u2019s own football field was remodeled for practice and some league games, and now features lighting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The field at the La Barranquita Stadium, the site of the 1986 Central American and Caribbean Games, is undergoing remodeling, and a new field is being constructed in the middle of the Santiago Central Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This weekend, the Dominican Football League\u2019s games featured the Cibao F.C. and the University OyM F.C. matching up at the Parque del Este in East Santo Domingo. The Cibao\u2019s narrow victory 1-2, assured the Santiago team first place in the finals. The Moca team defeated the Delfines del Este by a score of 1-0 and assured their participation in the finals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And, in San Cristobal\u2019s Estadio Panamericano, the Guerreros of Pantoja F.C. defeated Atl\u00e1ntico F.C. by a score of 5-0. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a result, Cibao will play home and away against Moca, and Pantoja and OyM will also play home and away.
