The newly appointed president of the Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (Indotel), Guido G\u00f3mez Mazara has disclosed a significant gap in technological infrastructure within the nation’s law enforcement agencies. In a recent interview with Pablo McKinney, the very outspoken Gomez Mazara revealed that a mere 25% of police stations nationwide have reliable internet access, as reported in El Dia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To address this issue, the head of Indotel has committed to a comprehensive initiative aimed at ensuring that all police stations are fully connected to the Internet. Gomez Mazara emphasized the critical role of digital connectivity in modern policing, particularly in the sharing of information and data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“If a crime is reported in a station in Jos\u00e9 Mart\u00ed, and the same individual was involved in a disturbance in Villa Duarte three days prior, there’s currently no system to connect this information,” Gomez Mazara explained. “Indotel is responsible for ensuring that all police stations have the connectivity they need.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond law enforcement, Gomez Mazara also highlighted Indotel’s broader mission to reduce the digital divide across the Dominican Republic. Gomez Mazara committed to continue agency plans to expand internet access to even the most remote areas, empowering communities with the tools and information necessary for education and economic development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Indotel’s role is to bring technology closer to the people,” Gomez Mazara stated. “We want people to understand that there are technological solutions to their basic problems.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a broader critique of government documentation, Gomez Mazara expressed concern over the quality of official documents, including the Constitution. He pledged that Indotel would develop a simple application to help correct grammatical and spelling errors in these documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It’s unacceptable that official documents are full of errors,” Gomez Mazara asserted. “Indotel will address this issue with a new application.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gomez Mazara emphasized his commitment to transparency and efficiency during his tenure at Indotel. He invited public scrutiny and pledged to make the agency more responsive to the needs of the Dominican people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
