President Luis Abinader appointed 57-year old Julio C\u00e9sar Valent\u00edn Jimini\u00e1n as the new Superintendent of Insurance on Thursday, 22 August 2024. Presidential Decree 459-29 names Valentin to replace Josefa Castillo, who has been named to the National Institute for Early Childhood Care (Inaipi).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Valent\u00edn holds a law degree with a master\u2019s in political science and development, as well as postgraduate degrees in international public law, diplomacy, international arbitration and parliamentary law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has served as deputy for three consecutive periods 1998-2002, 2002-2006 and 2006-2010, and was president of the Chamber of Deputies for 2006-2010.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During his term in Congress, he advocated for a reduction in the number of deputies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was senator for the province of Santiago for two consecutive terms 2010-2016 and 2016-2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to his legislative roles, Valent\u00edn has served as a district attorney, an investigating judge, a judicial translator for the Santiago Judicial District, and a municipal justice of the peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He recently published the book \u201cThe Dominican Social Movements in the 21st Century\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
