The Dominican Republic continues to increase its air connectivity, establishing more direct flights and routes to and from the Dominican territory, the Civil Aviation Board (JAC) has announced on 22 August 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his first session as president of the JAC, H\u00e9ctor Porcella Dumas reiterated his commitment to expanding the country’s air connectivity and solidifying the Dominican Republic as a hub for tourism and air transport in the Greater Caribbean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The JAC, responsible for setting the highest policies for civil aviation, approved a special permit for Air Cara\u00efbes to operate the Paris-Orly\/Santo Domingo\/Punta Cana\/Paris-Orly route from 29 August 2024 to 17 October 2024. Air Cara\u00efbes transported 241,224 passengers in 1,065 flights between January 2023 and July 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur goal is to establish greater air connectivity to increase the number of tourists visiting the Dominican Republic. Tourism represents approximately 16% of the country’s GDP,\u201d said Porcella.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, the JAC granted a special permit to Air Transat to operate flights from 1 November 2024 to 30 April 2025, on the following routes: Toronto\/Saman\u00e1, Quebec\/Saman\u00e1, Toronto\/La Romana, Ottawa\/Puerto Plata, Ottawa\/Punta Cana, Moncton\/Punta Cana, and London, Ontario\/Punta Cana. Air Transat transported 1,455,713 passengers in 7,060 flights between January 2023 and July 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Canada destinations are also served by Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge, West Jet and Dominican Republic-based Arajet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
