After more than three years, the First Collegiate Court of the National District has lifted the house arrest and electronic bracelet imposed on Major General Ad\u00e1n C\u00e1ceres Silvestre, the key figure in the Coral Operation Danilo Medina government corruption case. C\u00e1ceres Silvestre was the all-powerful security head for former President Danilo Medina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Coral and Coral 5G cases involve police and military personnel accused of corruption. Proceedings are taking place in the First Collegiate Court of the National District, overseen by judges Giselle M\u00e9ndez, Tania Yunes, and Jissel Naranjo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Judge Esmirna Gisselle M\u00e9ndez ruled to eliminate the electronic monitoring, but maintained financial guarantees and travel restrictions as precautionary measures. C\u00e1ceres will now continue his legal proceedings, which are currently in the trial phase, while free. The trial resumes on 26 September 2024 with cross-examinations of witnesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite accusations, C\u00e1ceres Silvestre has been allowed to maintain his military rank, the highest in the Dominican Republic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As reported, C\u00e1ceres celebrated the court\u2019s decision alongside friends, family, and his legal team at the Ciudad Nueva Palace of Justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cristian Mart\u00ednez, C\u00e1ceres’s attorney, stated, \u201cToday we achieved what should have been done long ago, which was to simply end the excessive coercive measures that had been in place.\u201d He noted that C\u00e1ceres had been under preventive detention for over three years. Mart\u00ednez emphasized: \u201cThe Public Ministry has not presented any evidence of wrongdoing or of a flight risk. His behavior has been appropriate, and today we corrected that error.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lead people implicated in the Coral Operation are Major General Ad\u00e1n C\u00e1ceres Silvestre, Rossy Guzm\u00e1n S\u00e1nchez (known as \u201cla Pastora\u201d), police corporal Tanner Antonio Flete Guzm\u00e1n (son of the religious figure), Colonel Rafael N\u00fa\u00f1ez de Aza, and Navy Sergeant Alejandro Jos\u00e9 Montero Cruz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Coral 5G Operation, linked to Coral, arrests included Generals Juan Carlos Torres Robiou (FARD), Boanerges Reyes Batista (ARD), and Julio Camilo de los Santos Viola (FARD), along with Navy Captain Franklin Mata Flores (ARD) and Jos\u00e9 Manuel Rosario Pir\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Others implicated in the case include Carlos Lantigua, Alfredo Pichardo, Erasmo Roger P\u00e9rez, Jehohanan Luc\u00eda Rodr\u00edguez, Yehudy Blandesmil Guzm\u00e1n, and Esmeralda Ortega Polanco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
