A firm initiative aimed at reducing traffic accidents and promoting road safety among Dominican youth was launched today. The \u201cYouth in Transit\u201d program, a partnership between the National Institute of Transit and Land Transport (Intrant), Santo Domingo Motors, Motor Cr\u00e9dito, Entrena, and the Ministry of Education, will provide traffic safety education to public high school students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTraffic is not just about mobility; it\u2019s a reflection of our daily coexistence, our collective decisions, and how we value life,\u201d said Benahuare Pichardo, president of Motor Cr\u00e9dito, during the program\u2019s launch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first phase of the project will train approximately 1,000 students from eight schools in La Gu\u00e1yiga and Pedro Brand, with an investment of nearly RD$5 million. Santo Domingo Motors and Motor Cr\u00e9dito will provide the funding, while Intrant will oversee compliance with regulations. Entrena and the Ministry of Education will be responsible for delivering the training and coordinating with schools to ensure the curriculum aligns with educational standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative is designed to instill responsible traffic behaviors and decision-making skills in participants. Over the course of 40 hours of theoretical and practical training, students will learn about various aspects of traffic safety, including pedestrians, traffic agents, vehicles, risk factors, road safety, traffic signs, traffic lights, traffic laws, drivers, violations, and penalties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program’s goal is to equip young people with the knowledge and skills necessary to make informed choices as pedestrians, cyclists, passengers, or future drivers, ultimately contributing to a safer road environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pichardo emphasized the program\u2019s goal of fostering a culture of respect and responsibility among young people, ultimately leading to a reduction in traffic accidents. By educating students about traffic laws and safe driving behaviors, the program aims to create a generation of more responsible drivers and pedestrians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
