Former National District legislator Jos\u00e9 Horacio Rodr\u00edguez was elected on Sunday, 6 October 2024 president of the Opci\u00f3n Democr\u00e1tica (OD) party for the 2024-2028 term. He takes over from fellow party founder, Minou Tavarez Mirabal. He will be joined by Alexandra Sued as vice president and Miguel Alejandro Martinez as secretary general. He stressed the party seeks to position itself as a major political force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTen years ago, when Minou called us to organize, it was clear there was a void. Today, Opci\u00f3n Democr\u00e1tica\u2019s presence in Dominican elections is not just necessary; it is essential, especially in times when common sense has been lost and we need more decision-makers with empathy,\u201d Rodr\u00edguez stated in his remarks, as reported in El Caribe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He emphasized his commitment to strengthening the party over the next four years in areas such as institutional integrity, territorial growth, communication, and community engagement, aiming to position OD as a benchmark for good politics and a leading force within the country\u2019s party system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The party directors now include Minou Tav\u00e1rez Mirabal, Virginia Antares Rodr\u00edguez, Samuel Bonilla, Eric Ortiz, Alexander Germoso, Nicole Pichardo, Darys Estrella Mord\u00e1n, and Natalia M\u00e1rmol Candelario. Additional members elected include Nidia Guzm\u00e1n, Stayci Toribio, Horacio L\u00f3pez, Christian Steffano Gonz\u00e1lez, Angel Bogaert, Luz Mar Vargas, Estephany Encarnaci\u00f3n and Felipe Gavil\u00e1n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
