The unpaved sections convert a trip that was a 4.5-hour drive from Santo Domingo into a 6-hour drive. She also points out that it is a difficult drive for anyone not riding in a four-wheel drive vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pedernales is where the Abinader government is funding the construction of several resort hotels to be operated by international chains to kickstart tourism in the area. Tourists are already arriving via cruise ships.
