The Senate has ratified the current members of the Central Electoral Board (JCE) for a new four-year term, with a single change in its composition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During a session on Wednesday, 6 November 2024, 25 senators voted overwhelmingly to approve the reappointment of Rom\u00e1n J\u00e1quez Liranzo as president of the JCE. In addition to J\u00e1quez, Dolores Altagracia Fern\u00e1ndez, Samir Chami Isa and Rafael Amado Vallejo Santelises were confirmed as full members of the electoral body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hirayda Fern\u00e1ndez Guzm\u00e1n is the only newcomer to the five-member JCE team. She was named to fill the fifth and final seat, replacing Patricia Lorenzo. Fern\u00e1ndez Guzm\u00e1n had previously served as an alternate member for Chami Isa during the past term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Senate appointed or confirmed alternate members of the JCE. Prado L\u00f3pez Cornielle will continue in his role as an alternate, this time stepping in for President J\u00e1quez Liranzo. Anibelca Rosario, who had been serving as an alternate, will now replace Fern\u00e1ndez Guzm\u00e1n when necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other new alternates are Iv\u00e1n Feliz Vargas, who will replace Samir Chami Isa; Cristian Perdomo Hern\u00e1ndez, who will serve in place of Dolores Altagracia Fern\u00e1ndez; and Tony Tejada, who will take over for Rafael Vallejo Santelises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The JCE has on agenda the major task of replacing the local identity and voting cards in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
