A Haitian couple attacked medical staff at the emergency department of the Dr. Dar\u00edo Contreras Traumatology Hospital on Sunday, 17 November 2024 in the afternoon, subsequently fleeing the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hospital confirmed the incident in a statement, quoting the director-general, Dr. C\u00e9sar Roque, who condemned the assault. The note from the hospital indicated that a 28-year-old patient and his partner had been admitted for treatment when they turned violent, attacking both doctors and nurses. The male assailant had allegedly concealed a knife, which he brandished during the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Thanks to the swift intervention of the hospital’s security personnel, the assailants were initially apprehended. However, they took advantage of the arrival of a critical patient to make their escape,” Dr. Roque is quoted as saying. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hospital authorities have notified the National Police and are actively searching for the Haitian couple to bring them to justice for their actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The president of the Dominican Medical Association (CMD) called for improvements in hospital security, as reported in Diario Libre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
