The National Archives (AGN) has launched the book “Constanza Images 1909-2000,” authored by Constancio Cass\u00e1 and Teruki Waki. Concurrently, the AGN inaugurated a photographic exhibition on the perimeter fence of the Nuestra Se\u00f1ora de las Mercedes parish in Constanza city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition, open to the public for a month, presents a valuable historical collection of this municipality, allowing residents and visitors to appreciate its development over the years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event began with a moving prayer by parish priest Ambiorix Tolentino, who thanked the AGN for organizing this event and highlighted the importance of such initiatives in preserving and valuing local history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe thank the Lord that we can maintain these values, that we continue to grow as a municipality, as a country, and historically. These images allow our young people to learn and help grow more spiritually and fraternally,\u201d Tolentino expressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ildefonso \u00c1lvarez, head of the AGN’s Research Department, highlighted the commitment of the Archives director, Roberto Cass\u00e1, to bringing historical heritage closer to communities. “What better occasion than the launch of the book ‘Constanza Images’ to come to Constanza and hold this exhibition,” \u00c1lvarez emphasized, underscoring the importance of initiatives that allow us to value Dominican history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his speech, Constancio Cass\u00e1 thanked the parish priest for allowing some of the book’s images to be exhibited on the parish fences and detailed that the book compiles about 300 photographs that illustrate significant moments in Constanza’s history, many of which had remained unpublished until now. “This book will be indispensable in the municipality’s bibliography.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cass\u00e1 recounted how the idea for this book came about, born from conversations between both authors about the photographs collected by Constancio’s father, who began visiting Constanza in 1946. “The research work and the compilation of images allowed us to bring this work to life, which is a visual tribute to Constanza and its people.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For his part, Teruki Waki, co-author of the book, expressed his deep gratitude to all those present and shared his personal experience of arriving in Constanza at the age of 2. Waki has dedicated much of his life to learning about the history and customs of this municipality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
