Some 18 Latin America and the Caribbean nations have presented the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) with founding documents for the Alliance for Security, Justice, and Development, a regional effort to create initiatives and projects that will assist in fighting criminal activities in these nations. The IADB defines the new entity as a platform for dialogue, cooperation, knowledge exchange, and resource mobilization to prevent and respond to organized crime in Latin America and the Caribbean<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the IADB president, Ilan Goldfajn, security was a \u201ckey element in securing regional economic progress.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Collaborating agencies such as the Organization of American States (OAS), Interpol, the Anti-Mafia Agency from Italy, the World Bank, and the Bank for the Development of Central America and the Caribbean (CAF) are also part of the new entity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Established in December 2024 with the support of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Alliance is composed of and led by 18 of the regional borrowing member countries of the Bank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
