In a historic ceremony, the National Police welcomed 984 new female recruits to its ranks. The event, presided over by Interior and Police Minister Faride Raful and National Police Director General Major General Ram\u00f3n Antonio Guzm\u00e1n Peralta, marked a milestone in the institution’s ongoing transformation, as reported in a National Police press release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new class, named “Mar\u00eda Trinidad S\u00e1nchez” in honor of a prominent Dominican figure, represents a substantial step forward in promoting gender equality within the police force. These aspiring officers will undergo rigorous training at the Major General Eulogio Benito Monci\u00f3n Leonardo Police Training School in Hatillo, San Crist\u00f3bal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We have selected the best and brightest to join this prestigious academy,” said General Esteban Figuereo Garc\u00eda, Central Director of Human Resources. “These women have demonstrated exceptional academic abilities and passed a rigorous evaluation process.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Luis Ernesto Garc\u00eda Hern\u00e1ndez, Executive Commissioner for Police Reform, emphasized the honor of wearing the police uniform and highlighted the progress made in achieving gender equality within the force. Women now account for 16% of the police force, with the goal of reaching 35% by 2028.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Major General Guzm\u00e1n Peralta underscored the rigorous selection process and the commitment required of police officers. He assured the recruits that their chosen career path offers ample opportunities for professional development and public service. The Abinader administration has significantly improved working conditions for the Police. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minister Raful expressed her pride in welcoming these dedicated women to the force. “You are not just going to be police officers; you are women, and women cannot fail,” she said, emphasizing the importance of recognizing talent and capabilities, regardless of gender.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ceremony was attended by a host of dignitaries, including the rector of the IPES, Colonel Cecilio Delgado Agramonte; Mu-Kien Adriana Sang Ben, director of the IPES Board of Directors; and Elena Villeya de Paliza of the Executive Reform Commission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
