Presidential Minister Jose Ignacio Paliza recently announced the new airport will be built in Oviedo, in the province of Pedernales. As reported, the advances are being made on the construction of the runway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Already, nearby Cabo Rojo Port receives thousands of cruise passengers, while the builders advance on the construction of the large resorts in the nearby beach area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Using his account on X (formerly Twitter), Paliza said that in 18 months the airport will be capable of receiving commercial flights. The airport would have a 2,400m (7800ft) runway.
