The last time the two city teams are competed in the finals was in the 2015-16 championship, then won by the Escogido.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those who bought a ticket to the opening game of the Dominican Winter Professional Baseball Championship on Monday, 20 January 2025, didn\u2019t know what they were in for. It took the Tigres del Licey 14 innings to put an end to that first playoffs game, winning 4-3 against the Leones del Escogido. Reports now are that the game was among the longest in the Dominican Baseball League\u2019s history. Indeed, El Dia writes that the seventh game of the 1980-81 championship series between the \u00c1guilas Cibae\u00f1as and Leones del Escogido had extended to 15 innings.
