This avoids the latter being marked by a criminal record that would happen if they wait out the deportation process, Diario Libre reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As reported in El Nuevo Dia of Puerto Rico, 11 Dominicans of 12 that were detained on Sunday, 28 January 2025 have accepted to return voluntarily from Puerto Rico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El Dia reports that deportations of Dominicans are nothing new and have been happening for years, with many Dominicans who have committed crimes in the United States returned regularly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Diario Libre reports that around 11,000 were deported during the past Biden administration to the Dominican Republic from US territory. Most of these had taken the Mexico entry route, and others were returned after serving jail sentences.
