The SCJ says the aim is to enhance the efficiency, transparency, and accessibility of judicial services through advanced technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The proposed changes, detailed in a recent announcement, would introduce a range of digital innovations, including:<br>\u2022 Digital case files: A centralized system to manage cases across different jurisdictions, streamlining processes and reducing paperwork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Online payments: A platform for electronic payments of court fees and taxes, improving efficiency and transparency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Digital signatures: Legally binding digital signatures on court decisions, eliminating the need for physical copies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Automated case numbering: A digital system to assign case numbers, replacing manual processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Virtual hearings: The option for virtual hearings, with the court deciding on the format on the day of the hearing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Digital certificates: Online certificates to verify case status and the absence of appeals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 QR codes: QR codes on all digital documents for easy verification and access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Online sentence delivery: Electronic delivery of court decisions to litigants and their attorneys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Online case registration: Digital registration of court decisions with local governments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Supreme Court is inviting public comments on the proposed changes until 26 February 2025.
