He will officially assume his role as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador once he presents his credentials to President Luis Abinader and Vice President Raquel Pe\u00f1a. He succeeds Smith Augustin, whose term ended in June 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Longchamp has a long career in politics and diplomacy, having held important positions in the Haitian government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Longchamp began his work at the embassy on Monday, 17 February 2025, making initial contact with the four Haitian consulates in the Dominican Republic, as reported in Acento.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He served as Haiti&#8217;s Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1995 to 2001 under President Ren\u00e9 Pr\u00e9val.
