Customs Agency reports on two seizures of weapons and ammunition at the Port of Haina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most recent, reported on 4 March 2025, is that of a cache of weapons and ammunition intended for shipment to Haiti following an inspection at the Port of Haina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a press release from the Customs Agency (DGA), officers discovered 36,000 rounds of ammunition in various calibers, 18 rifle magazines, 13 9mm magazines, a .50 caliber rifle magazine, a silencer, and a pistol box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The authorities also uncovered 23 firearms originating from the United States that were to be sent to Haiti. The discovery was made during an inspection of a transit container coming from Miami, Florida, and bound for Haiti. The shipment contained a .50 caliber Barrett rifle, 17 7.62 caliber rifles, a 9mm rifle, five 9mm Glock pistols, and an Uzi submachine gun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last week, 37 firearms at the Port of Haina. The investigation is ongoing, with coordination between the Public Ministry, the Ministry of Defense\u2019s J-2, the U.S. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and other security agencies. Authorities are working to determine the individuals responsible and proceed with legal actions in accordance with the law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials from the Customs Agency (DGA) seized the 37 firearms at the Haina Port in a container that had arrived from New York. Among the confiscated weapons were 30 rifles of various calibers, six 9mm Glock Gen 5 pistols, and one Smith & Wesson SD9 VE 9mm pistol, as well as 37 rifle magazines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The firearms were hidden inside two compressor tanks in a container that had shipped from Brooklyn, New York (USA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Customs Agency reported that the interception of the smuggling operation was made possible through the use of X-ray scanners, which accurately detected the weapons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
