The streets of Santo Domingo erupted in color and energy on Sunday, 2 March 2025, as the National District Carnival parade filled the Malec\u00f3n with thousands of enthusiastic spectators. The event was organized by the National District Municipality (ADN) and the Union of Carnivals of the District (UCADI) that awarded over two million pesos in prizes across various categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Creaci\u00f3n y Diversi\u00f3n” took home the top prize in the prestigious “Gran Comparsa” category, showcasing their creative prowess and artistic talent. This year’s event paid heartfelt homage to Milagros Ortiz Bosch, a celebrated figure in Dominican culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over 80 “comparsas” or costumed groups and individual characters participated, contributing to an atmosphere overflowing with festivity and vibrancy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
