Much uncertainty continues to affect Haitians regarding actions taken or to be taken by the Trump administration that could result in half a million deportations of Haitians benefited by TPS status. Haiti depends much on the remittances of its large population in the United States. The Trump administration is allowing those who had received TPS status to remain until August 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has extended its ban on US flights to Port-au-Prince until 8 September 2025, citing ongoing security risks from armed gangs. The restriction, which affects major airlines like American, Spirit, and JetBlue, keeps Haiti\u2019s capital cut off from direct commercial flights during the busy summer travel season, Haitian Times reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Haitian Times highlights that the Haitian authorities are expanding regional airports to maintain international access. The Les Cayes and Cap Haitien airports could be used for landing of airplanes with deported Haitian citizens from the United States if the situation at the Port-au-Prince airport continues insecure for arrivals given the continuing of gang violence. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
