As the keynote speaker at the Manuel Arsenio Ure\u00f1a business conference, a breakfast event held in Santiago, current Vice President Raquel Pe\u00f1a told her audience that \u201c[she] dreamed of walking up the stairs of the Presidential Palace as the President.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking on the topic of \u201cWomen Leaders Pushing Sustainable Economies,\u201d Pe\u00f1a said that when she was asked by a reporter when she became the Vice President if she \u201chad ever dreamed of such a thing?\u201d She said “no”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And she went on. \u201cNow this question you are asking about dreaming about waking up those stairs as President? The answer is yes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She did not, however, say whether she would contend in the presidential primary of the ruling Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several PRM government officers have expressed their interest in being the ruling party presidential candidate in the 2028 presidential elections. Among these are Tourism Minister David Collado, National District Mayor Carolina Mejia, Customs Agency director Eduardo Sanz Lovaton, Indotel board president Guido Gomez Mazara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
