The Dominican Republic is undergoing a profound digital transformation, solidifying its position as the Caribbean’s digital hub in 2025, 7 Dias reports. With an explosive growth in Internet and social media usage, the country is leading the region in internet connectivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the “Digital 2025” report, the statistics paint a striking picture: the Dominican Republic is not just connected; it’s revolutionizing the way it lives, works, and communicates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7 Dias says the recent statistics indicate that by 2025, the Dominican Republic has reached a historic milestone: 10.2 million Internet users, representing an impressive 88.6% of its total population. This marks a 5.6% growth compared to 2024, leaving only 11.4% of Dominicans disconnected, a digital divide that is rapidly shrinking. Mobile connections are also on the rise, with 10.3 million active lines, equivalent to 90% of the population, of which 97.4% are broadband (3G, 4G, and 5G).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This ultra-fast access is bringing digitalization to every corner of the country, from the vibrant streets of Santo Domingo to the most remote communities of Pedernales, on the border with Haiti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Social media is described as the driving force behind this digital revolution, with 7.24 million active users in 2025, representing 63.1% of the total population. These platforms are not only connecting people but also transforming the culture, commerce, and professional lives of Dominicans:
\u2022 YouTube dominates with 7.24 million users, reaching 71.2% of internet users, and has become the epicenter of entertainment and digital education.
\u2022 TikTok follows closely with 7.22 million adult users (91.8% of connected adults), solidifying its position as a cultural phenomenon that is redefining Dominican creativity.
\u2022 Facebook remains a giant with 6 million users, growing by 350,000 since 2024, and is a key tool for commerce and communication.
\u2022 Instagram shines with 4.7 million users (58.5% of connected adults), leading in visual influence and lifestyle.
\u2022 LinkedIn is experiencing an impressive 23.5% growth, with 2.1 million users, opening doors to global professional opportunities.
\u2022 However, X (formerly Twitter) is facing a worrying decline, falling by 11.4% to 741,000 users, barely 6.5% of the population, reflecting a shift in digital preferences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
