President Luis Abinader said that the Dominican government would not open the Dominican air space to flights from any airport in Haiti. At present, regular international flights are happening from Haiti\u2019s two international airports outside its capital city, Port-au-Prince. Recently, Fritz Alphone Jean, the president of Haiti\u2019s transitional Presidential Council (CPT), has called for opening of skies and the resuming of the bilateral talks with the Dominican Republic and issuing of visas by the Dominican government for Haitian nationals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the weekly press conference, President Abinader said that on the contrary, given the continued escalating of violence in Haiti, the government would be implementing additional security measures. So far, two Kenyan officers have been killed in clashes with the Haitian gangs. Recently news reports tell about an outbreak of 500 persons in jail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the press conference, President Abinader said that Haiti contiues in a state of anarchy. He said in addition to enhancing security measures his government is motivating businesses with financing for equipment to mechanize construction and agriculture to depend less on Haitian labor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

N Digital reports that to improve control over individuals entering the country and the cross-border markets from Haiti, Migration Agency director, Vice Admiral Luis Rafael Lee Ballester, announced that the installation of facial recognition cameras at the border crossings is underway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lee Ballester explained that the implementation of this new technology aims to ensure effective migration control and regulate access to markets at the four main border points. The system is designed to enhance security by detecting any suspicious individuals attempting to enter the Dominican Republic from Haiti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
