Arajet, the Dominican Republic\u2019s main carrier, inaugurated its flights to the United States with a first route from Las Americas International Airport (SDQ) in Santo Domingo to the Miami International Airport (MIA) in Miami-Dade County, Florida on 11 April 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flight carried 189 passengers on a Boeing 737 MAX 8 named Los Haitises and was welcomed by MIA officials and representatives from the US and Dominican governments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Miami, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue welcomed the flight with a water cannon salute before the aircraft was parked at gate E10. The Dominican and American flags were seen waving outside the cockpit in celebration that Friday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arajet is operating four weekly flights between Santo Domingo and Miami. The schedule is set to increase in time for summer to daily flights. For summer, the airline will be adding daily service also on the Punta Cana International (PUJ) to Miami International (MIA) route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since beginning operations 30 months ago, Arajet has already carried more than two million passengers. After the government signed a new Open Skies Agreement with the US government, the FAA has begun to approve landing requests of which Miami is the first to be implemented by the Santo Domingo and Punta Cana-based airline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is a historical moment for Arajet and for the entire Dominican Republic,\u201d stated Victor Pacheco, CEO of Arajet. \u201cThis first flight to Miami, the capital of Latin America, is just the beginning of our commitment to offering efficient and more affordable travel options for our passengers, connecting this city with the entire continent and promoting tourism, business, and cultural exchanges between both nations,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arajet flies to 18 destinations in 13 countries in the Americas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
