President Luis Abinader was at the Casa Museo Juan Trinidad, the art museum of sculptor Juan Trinidad, centrally located in Bonao, Monse\u00f1or Nouel province, less than an hour north from the capital city, off the Duarte Highway. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the occasion, sculptor Juan Trinidad presented President Abinader with the sculpture, \u201cTranscendence of My President,\u201d crafted from precious wood with bronze accents. Trinidad says it is a tribute to Abinader\u2019s leadership and impact on the country\u2019s contemporary history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Abinader expressed his gratitude to Trinidad, emphasizing the importance of art as a catalyst for social transformation and cultural identity. “It is an honor to receive this piece, not only because of Master Juan Trinidad’s extraordinary talent but also because it symbolizes our collective commitment to culture, our roots, and art as a tool for development,” he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the President toured the museum’s facilities, which house a collection of sculptural, pictorial, and artisanal works representative of Dominican culture, he engaged in a private conversation with Trinidad. They discussed strategies to enhance art in the provinces, promote community cultural spaces, and engage youth in the national artistic scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following this discussion, President Abinader announced that the government is developing new plans to revitalize the cultural sector across the country, particularly in inland regions. “We aim to establish more cultural centers, encourage art schools, and support emerging artists,” he said. “Art is not a luxury; it is a necessity for the soul of our nation.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bonao was once known for the now-closed Falconbride ferronickel mine. The town is now best known as a culinary stop, with several well-known restaurants and highway stops. But its artists for decades have made it a stop for tourists, including the Candido Bido cultural center, and the Casa Museo Cristian Tiburcio. Bonao is also an ecotouristic province, with the outstanding Jima Falls. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
