The Dominican Republic and Spain have formalized a bilateral cooperation agreement, setting the stage for sustainable development initiatives over the period 2025-2029. The pact, signed on Wednesday, 14 May 2025 in Santo Domingo by Dominican Republic’s Minister of Foreign Relations, Roberto \u00c1lvarez, and the Spanish Secretary of State for International Cooperation Eva Granados Galiano, outlines a framework supported by an estimated EUR110 million investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Key areas of focus include bolstering the rule of law, safeguarding human rights, enhancing working conditions, and fostering inclusive technical-professional education with a strong emphasis on gender equality. The agreement also prioritizes the sustainable management of territory, addressing critical aspects such as water, sanitation, and climate resilience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ministry of Economy’s Vice Minister of International Cooperation Olaya Dotel Caraballo and Vice Minister for Economic and Social Analysis Alexis Cruz <\/strong>participated in the 10th Meeting of the Hispano-Dominican Joint Cooperation Commission, alongside officials representing the Ministry of Foreign Relations (Mirex), the Embassy of Spain, and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This agreement marks the beginning of the Sustainable Development Partnership Framework 2025-2029 between the Dominican Republic and Spain, a key instrument to strengthen the rule of law, technical-professional education with a gender focus, human rights, decent employment, and the sustainable management of land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
