Suriname and the Dominican Republic ended their participation in the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup playing to a scoreless draw in Group A on Sunday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, USA. For the Dominican Republic, this draw became its first point in a Gold Cup football event. Both nations had lost their two opening encounters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Concacaf reported on the game:
Edgar Pujol was sent off in the 30\u2019, leaving the Dominican Republic with ten men for the remainder of the match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Suriname tried to get on the board in the 31\u2019, with Kenneth Paal serving the ball to the center of the penalty area off a free kick to find Richonell Margaret, but Xavier Valdez was there to make the stop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Valdez was again the hero for the Dominican Republic in the 36\u2019, denying a header from Gleofilo Vlijter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Margaret had a right-footed attempt in the 81\u2019 but Valdez kept the match scoreless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peter Gonz\u00e1lez had the last chance for the Dominican Republic, shooting a left-footed strike from outside the box in the 90\u2019+1\u2019, but Suriname goalkeeper Warner Hahn blocked the attempt to preserve the clean sheet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Valdez ended the match with five saves and collected his first clean sheet in the Gold Cup. The Dominican Republic ended its debut campaign with a 0-1-2 record and third place in Group A.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The DR placed third of four in Group A. Suriname exits the tournament with a 0-1-2 record as fourth in the group on goal difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the tournament, the DR’s first Gold Cup, the Dominican team lost 3-2 to Mexico, 2-1 to Costa Rica. Costa Rica and Mexico move on in the first phase of the tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
