On a media tour for his new book, \u201cGeohispanidad: La potencia hispana en el nuevo orden geopol\u00edtico,\u201d Spanish geopolitical analyst, Pedro Ba\u00f1os was in Santiago on Tuesday, 24 June 2025 for the Dominican launch of his latest book. The Fundaci\u00f3n El Dem\u00f3crata, Grupo Estrella, and the Pontificia Universidad Cat\u00f3lica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) hosted the book presentation at the PUCMM Health Sciences Auditorium on its Santiago campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pedro Ba\u00f1os is a Spanish colonel in reserve. He was formerly the Chief of Counter-Intelligence and Security for the European Army Corps. He is one of Europe\u2019s top specialists in geopolitics, terrorism and intelligence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is a former professor of Strategy at the Centro Superior de Estudios de la Defensa Nacional and head of the Geopolitical Analysis Area of the Spanish Ministry of Defense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is a prolific writer. Previous books are: As\u00ed se domina el mundo. Desvelando las claves del poder mundial, El dominio mundial. Elementos del poder y claves geopol\u00edticas, El dominio mental. La geopol\u00edtica de la mente y La encrucijada mundial. Un manual del ma\u00f1ana, El poder, Un estratega lee a Maquiavelo, among others. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ba\u00f1os also keeps up the YouTube channel, El Canal del Coronel, where he continues to engage with a wide audience on geopolitical issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ba\u00f1os, considered one of the world\u2019s most influential geopolitical analysts, addressed the Santiago PUCMM university auditorium with a sweeping analysis of the current global war climate and its potential implications for the Latin American region and the Dominican Republic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Geohispanidad, Ba\u00f1os urges the global Spanish-speaking community to unite and face today\u2019s shifting geopolitical paradigms from a position of strength. His long-term vision calls for breaking down national barriers and constructing an egalitarian, pan-Hispanic Atlantic space. The goal, he emphasized, is to create a shared platform where the Spanish-speaking world can assert a strong, independent, and influential voice on the global stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PUCMM Rector, Rev. Fr. Dr. Secilio Espinal, praised the book\u2019s relevance in a world grappling with escalating tensions between major powers and a reconfiguration of global influence. \u201cBa\u00f1os proposes a bold geostrategic concept\u2014the formation of a pan-Hispanic bloc, grounded in a shared history, cultural identity, and common language\u2014as a pathway to increase autonomy and global leverage for Hispanic nations,\u201d Espinal stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During his remarks, Ba\u00f1os highlighted the Dominican Republic\u2019s vast potential and strategic importance. \u201cYou already have everything you need\u2014resources, culture, unity as Hispanics. It\u2019s only a matter of believing in your potential,\u201d he said. \u201cIf Europeans, despite linguistic and cultural differences, achieved unity, then you\u2014who share so much more\u2014can certainly do it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ba\u00f1os also underscored the declining global influence of Europe while pointing to the untapped power of the Spanish-speaking world, a cultural sphere of more than 500 million native speakers. \u201cDespite our size and shared legacy, we remain geopolitically irrelevant. That must change,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of his visit to the Dominican Republic, Ba\u00f1os is scheduled to hold a series of closed-door meetings with policymakers, business leaders, academics, and intellectuals to discuss global dynamics and their direct impact on the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
