The Dominican Republic has a special place in Costa Line cruise marketing. In a recent interview for Travel Age West, Dario Rustico, Costa Line\u2019s general manager for North and South America of Costa Cruise Line explained that in the Caribbean, a different itinerary from many of the major cruise lines is offered because ships sail out of the Dominican Republic, not Florida.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSo with the short flight to the Dominican Republic, we can sail deeper into the Caribbean over the seven-day itinerary,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Costa Line cruise ships travel to multiple cruise ship ports in the Dominican Republic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Costa Pacifica cruise has an itinerary that goes around the island of Hispaniola with stops at the ports of La Romana, Cabo Rojo, Turks and Caicos, Puerto Plata, Samana and Isla Catalina. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thus, Costa Line\u2019s ships, Costa Fascinosa and Costa Pacifica operate routes touching these five ports within the Dominican Republic, with Santo Domingo and La Romana also serving as boarding points for cruises. These ports are part of a growing strategy to promote maritime connectivity and enhance cruise tourism within the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Starting in 2026, Costa Line announces Santo Domingo will serve as a new embarkation port for Costa Cruises\u2019 Caribbean itineraries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also new in 2026 is the start of a Transoceanic cruise from Santo Domingo to Barcelona and Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Tangiers in Africa, in addition to Guadaloupe, Martinique, St. Lucia, Barbados, and Catalina Island (DR).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
