The DR will play Canada on 8 August 2025 in the continuing of the first phase of the 22nd Women Senior Pan American Cup in Colima, Mexico. The DR’s Reinas del Caribe senior team so far is undefeated. In its most recent game, lead by team captain\u2019s Brayelin Martinez 26 points, the Dominican Republic senior volleyball team defeated Colombia 3-1 (23-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-16) in the team\u2019s first match in the Pan American Cup on Tuesday, 5 August 2025. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event is taking place in Mexico from 3 to 10 August 2025 with the participation of 10 countries from the Americas. The teams are Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Peru, Trinidad & Tobago and Venezuela.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The DR has also defeated Venezuela (25-18, 25-10, 25-21) and Trinidad and Tobago (25-9, 25-15, 25-11).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the more recent game, the Dominican Republic outscored Colombia in all aspects of the game, in attacks 62-58, in blocks 17-6, and in serves 4-0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marcos Kwiek, Dominican Republic coach: “It was a good game, Colombia played very well and gave us some difficulties. That’s a good way to start the tournament, so we can keep working, see where we were missing and try to improve, and know that a team of this level or higher is what we’re going to face.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guilherme Schmitz, Colombian coach: \u201cMy opinion is that both teams played very well, but we missed some opportunities that you can’t waste against teams like the Dominican Republic. That’s why the Dominican Republic gained more mental strength from the second half onwards and was able to secure the victory.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The DR senior women’s team is ranked 10th in the world by the FIVB. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The DR sees the Mexico tournament as a way to fine-tune the team for the FIVB Volleyball Women\u2019s World Championship 2025 set for 22 August to 7 September in Thailand with the participation of 32 teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
