JetSmart has announced the launch of two new international routes connecting Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, with the Colombian cities of Medell\u00edn and Cali, in time for the Christmas season traffic. The flights would start 5 December 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JetSmart flies direct from Santiago de Chile to Punta Cana. It also lists flights to Colombia from Punta Cana to the cities of Bogota (BOG), Cartagena (CTG), and Santa Marta (SMR) on its booking engine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the expansion of Medell\u00edn and Cali, the Dominican Republic joins the airline’s growing network across Latin America, which currently spans nine countries. Flights to Medell\u00edn will operate on Mondays, Thursdays, and Sundays, while service to Cali is scheduled for Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a company press release, the flight time between Punta Cana and Medell\u00edn is approximately 2 hours and 40 minutes. The route to Cali will take around three hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JetSmart projects that more than 90,000 passengers will travel on these routes within the first year of operation. The airline also highlighted that the new connections will provide travelers with greater access to additional South American destinations through its domestic network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Wikipedia, JetSmart is a Chilean ultra low-cost carrier controlled by US investment fund Indigo Partners, which also controls low-cost carriers like Frontier Airlines, Mexico’s Volaris and Hungary’s Wizz Air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JetSmart’s primary base of operations is Arturo Merino Ben\u00edtez International Airport, servicing Santiago, Chile. It also owns and manages JetSmart Argentina, an Argentine subsidiary with a base at Aeroparque Jorge Newbery in Buenos Aires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline commenced scheduled operations on 25 July 2017 with a service from Santiago to Calama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
