A convicted former ambassador has been granted permission to teach emerging lawyers. A judge in San Crist\u00f3bal has granted a work permit to Donni Mayobanex Santana Cuevas, a former Dominican ambassador who was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the sexual assault of his stepdaughter. The recent judicial order allows him to work as a professor at the National School of the Dominican Bar Association (CARD), N Digital reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The judge, Jos\u00e9 Manuel Arias of the Second Chamber of the Execution of the Sentence, issued the authorization, which had been sought in June. Juan P\u00e9rez Roa, the vice president of CARD, acted as a guarantor for Santana Cuevas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The permit requires Santana Cuevas to teach at the CARD National School from Monday to Friday. On weekends and holidays, he is to remain under house arrest at a residence in the National District.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Santana Cuevas has served seven years of his 20-year sentence, which was upheld by both the Supreme Court of Justice and the Constitutional Court. He had been serving his time at the Correction and Rehabilitation Center (CCR) 15 in Azua.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the May hearing to review the request, a document was presented from the Ministry of Foreign Relations, specifically the Dominican Consulate in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. The document included a statement from a relative of the victim, who claimed to have no interest in the case against Santana Cuevas and stated that she had never accused him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
