The long-time conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra announced he may well take on the challenge to present Handel\u2019s Messiah at the National Theater. He mentioned how there is strength in choral singing here that would work well for the presenting of the difficult concert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Messiah has been described as a baroque piece, not classical, yet always a monument of hope, moving and joyful. It has been performed in Easter and Christmas. Several of the pieces are inspiring: Sure He Hath Born Our Griefs, For Unto Us a Child is Born, the Hallelujah Chorus, the Amen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mozart was asked to rearrange the piece almost 50 years after the original premiere, and began a long-running tradition of tinkering with the piece.

Beethoven, whom the general public often considers to be the premier classical composer, is on record staying he considered Handel to be the greatest composer who ever lived. He said of Handel, “I would uncover my head, and kneel before his tomb.” This from the man whom we often consider synonymous with “classical music.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
