Grupo Martinon announced it is going forward with the construction of beach property in Bergantin, the new tourism and residential development east of Playa Dorada in Puerto Plata on the north coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bergantin management had earlier announced the Spanish capital company was looking at investing more than US$180 million in the development in Puerto Plata.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grupo Martinon already operates several hotels on the East Coast along the Punta Cana beach area and a hotel in Santo Domingo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bergant\u00edn as a tourist destination is a joint effort of the Ministry of Tourism and the Reservas Group (Banreservas), which manages the initial foreign investment and offers facilities for the development of hotel infrastructures as a way to foster national development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon completion, Punta Bergant\u00edn is expected to have more than 4,500 hotel rooms, as well as 5,000 residential rooms and a film studio, along with an academic campus aimed at promoting education and innovation in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
