The team, affectionately known as the &#8220;Queens of the Caribbean,&#8221; relied on the breakout performances of Madeline Guill\u00e9n, Alondra Tapia, and Massiel Matos and secured bronze in the event, El Nacional reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a thrilling five-set showdown for third place, the Dominicans overcame a formidable challenge from Puerto Rico, winning 3-2 (25-22, 20-25, 19-25, 25-23, 15-13). Guill\u00e9n led all scorers with 24 points, followed by Tapia with 17 and Matos with 13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Head coach Marcos Kwiek praised his team&#8217;s resilience and said the Final Six tournament had been a key learning experience. &#8220;It was a good match,&#8221; Kwiek said. &#8220;The players have to get used to this level of play and pressure. It&#8217;s good for their growth. It&#8217;s good that they go through these situations so they can grow as players and know that nothing is easy.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Individual accolades were also earned, with Madeline Guill\u00e9n named the tournament&#8217;s Best Attacker and Top Scorer.
